The project is a technical research project focused on implementing a ray tracing / path tracing renderer in Unity, with the goal of reproducing physically based lighting and image formation in a 3D scene. Inspired by the work of Sebastian Lague and the book Ray Tracing in One Weekend, it explores a different approach to rendering than traditional rasterization by simulating how light rays interact with surfaces, reflect, and contribute to the final image. The project addresses the challenge of generating more realistic visuals through physically based rendering, and provides a Unity-based solution built around ray–scene intersections and iterative light sampling to progressively construct the image.
